Sylvia and the specialist team around her, have established an international award-winning practice. Her design approach is holistic, aiming to provide an integrated solution with core ideas in sustainability and wellbeing. Every project begins with deep diving questions, aiming to provide custom made design solutions specific to user and site. Each project is meticulously executed by a close-knit team, with design approaches sharpened throughout 14 years of design practising.
Sylvia is the founder of Soh Design Architecture Studio. After completing Bachelor of Architecture degree at National University of Singapore in 1998, she continued her studies in Master of Architecture at The Bartlett, University College London.
On graduation in 2000, she joined Foster + Partners in the London headquarter office and was involved in the design of New Supreme Court building in Singapore. In 2001, she returned to Singapore, setting up the Singapore site office to finish the building on site. In 2004, she was made an Associate of the practice and for two years she had a leading role in the design of a proposed 6-star resort project on Sentosa Island.
On 2005, she left Foster + Partners and founded Soh Design Studio. Her design approach aims to draw a meaningful connection between user and built environment. Her built projects include an award-winning visitor centre ‘Sala’ completed in 2008. Outside her practice, she taught design at International Program for Design and Architecture, Chulangkorn University of Bangkok.
